David Letterman Announces Retirement (Video)

David Letterman has announced his retirement from ‘The Late Show’ on CBS. During the taping of the show he made the announcement that he will be leaving in 2015. It came without advanced warning or fanfare. The longtime late-night host and comedian 66-year-old David Letterman simply unveiled his plans to retire from the program of which he has been host since 1993. After his monologue, he took a seat at his desk to share his news with the studio audience at the famed Ed Sullivan Theater and the world at large. He began noting he had spoken with the head of CBS, Leslie Moonves. He said, “And I phoned him just before the program, and I said ?Leslie, it?s been great, you?ve been great, and the network has been great, but I?m retiring,?? He was lavish with his thanks and praise for CBS and his colleagues.
